Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Government of India inaugurates NCL’s 50 MW Solar Power Plant

Singrauli, During the 50th Foundation Day celebrations of Coal India Limited, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Government of India, Shri G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the 50 MW Solar Power Plant of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) at Nigahi through video conference.

This ambitious solar power project of NCL will produce 94 million units of renewable energy annually. Built at a cost of more than Rs 250 crore and spread over an area of ​​129 acres, more than 1 lakh 80 thousand solar modules have been used in the construction of this plant. This solar plant will reduce 78000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

During this inaugural ceremony held in Kolkata on the occasion of 50th Foundation Day of Coal India, Mr. Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Coal, Mrs. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Coal, Mrs. Vismita Tej, Additional Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Coal, Mr. P.M. Prasad, Chairman Coal India, Board of Directors of Coal India, CMDs of all subsidiary companies including NCL, former chairmen and other senior officials were present.

On this occasion, Honorable MLA-Singrauli Mr. Ram Niwas Shah, Municipal Corporation Chairman, Mr. Devesh Pandey, Director (Personnel), NCL Mr. Manish Kumar, Director (Finance), NCL Mr. Rajneesh Narayan, Director (Technical/Project & Planning), NCL Mr. Sunil Prasad Singh, Company JCC members Mr. Lal Pushpraj Singh, Mr. Shyamdhar Dubey, Mr. Ashok Kumar Pandey, officers and employees of NCL Headquarters and Nigahi Project and other public representatives, dignitaries were present and joined the program through video conference.

It is noteworthy that this solar power plant dedicated to renewable energy and business diversification is an important step towards NCL becoming net zero.
